The House on the Quarry was built by Harvey Fite, designed by him and Barbara Fite, expanding to meet a series of needs, between 1937 (Fite’s bachelor residence and sculpture studio, now the Barbara Fite Room) and the 1970s (the glass-walled front entryway). Guests may enjoy drinks, conversation and a breathtaking view of Opus 40 from the second floor deck, or warm themselves before a fire in the Barbara Fite Room, in an inviting atmosphere of books, art and antiques.
