Go to sleep in the tranquil beauty of the country...wake up to one of the greatest and most inspiring works of art on the American continent. Opus 40 has been celebrated in a recent New York Times article, and the House on the Quarry, built by Opus 40's creator Harvey Fite and designed by Barbara Fite, is a treasure of art and comfort. Tad and Pat Richards, the Fites' son and daughter-in-law, continue a tradition of gracious hospitality. The House on the Quarry has only two accommodations -- the South Wing Suite and the Rose Room -- our guests will have comfort, quiet and privacy. Guests may explore Opus 40, relax on the deck overlooking the sculpture, or avail themselves of the Barbara Fite Room, with a stone fireplace (for cool evenings) and a treasure trove of art and books. The House on the Quarry is near Woodstock and its art galleries, Saugerties with its art and antiques and the HITS horse shows, and all the hiking and outdoor activities of the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson River. |
